Meet the designers

#1) “Abstract Globe”
"I've had the pleasure of working with Jake to create the design for 'Life's a fantastic joke'. It's been a joy turning this mantra into a design because it's a reminder every time I read it to not take life too seriously and just enjoy it - probably something we all need to be reminded of often."
"Hi, I'm Katy, a self taught illustrator / artist currently living in Zug, Switzerland. I've been drawing ever since I was little, artistic creativity has always been the easiest way for me to express myself. Unlike most artists I don't have a set, particular style, instead I love to move in between styles and see what I can create. I never studied art or took classes, the artistic streak just happens to run down my father's side of the family. Art for me is simple, I see an idea in my head and I translate it onto paper or digitally with my iPad. I like my work to be authentic, fun and captivating. If I can get a smile/laugh with it that's always a bonus"

#2) “Funky/Groovy Woman”
“Hi, I'm Helen and I'm an illustrator based in Norwich! I've always been interested in art and design, but I found my style whilst I was studying Illustration at uni. My illustrations mostly focus on female empowerment and body positivity, and I like to do this by drawing irregular, out of proportion forms in my characters. A big influence on my style is Surrealism, which I love because of how abstract it is, but also because of the working process. I resonate with it because I find that I create my best work when I use my instinct, feeling and am just enjoying the process!”
“I really enjoyed working with Jake & ‘Life's a Fantastic Joke’ for this piece, because it felt like a perfect fit for the ethos behind my own practice. To remember and see the good moments in life, and learn to enjoy the present!”

#3) “Bubbles”
“Hi, I’m Ellie an illustrator and graphic designer currently based in Chester and North Wales. I create funky and bold imagery based around characters of mine. Be it my dog Peggy having a picnic with her pals and sharing a glass of doggy wine. To chilling in a kitchen with some Guinea pigs. I also enjoy Illustrating with a lighthearted, witty and comedic tone to allow me to convey themes with a taboo nature to become a more approachable topic.”
“When Jake asked me to design for LAFJ my first thought was how can I make this a play on words and have my own spin on it. Instantly I knew I had to draw some sort of funky laid back clown. Jake enjoyed my scenes with trippy perspectives so I made sure to incorporate that and add some little details to grab attention. Overall I’m so pleased with how the piece turned out and can’t wait to see people wearing my art!”
